What is an EAP ?

 An Employee Assistance Program provides assessment, treatment, referral and follow-up for employees' personal and family problems.

Why is this important?

 Life is increasingly complex and stressful.  Inevitably, we all face challenges that disrupt our life and ruffle our sense of well-being.  Without resolution, these challenges can eventually affect our work as well as our personal life.  Recognizing that each part of our self and our life impacts every part of our self and our life,  most employers now offer their employees assistance  in coping with life's challenges.

How an EAP works

 An employer contracts with EAP Consultants Inc.  to provide  services to its employees.  The EAP is then available at no charge to the employees and their family members.  

An employee uses the EAP by calling us and making an appointment to meet with a staff counselor.  All counselors are Florida Licensed Mental Health Providers.  The first meeting is an intake interview where the counselor and employee assess the problem and establish specific counseling goals.  Follow-up counseling sessions are scheduled with the employee.  If necessary, employees are referred to specialized services. 

A supervisor may also recommend an employee contact the EAP when a decline in job performance occurs. We provide consultation with the supervisor in making a constructive referral to the EAP. 

The employee's contact with the EAP is confidential in accordance with the applicable state and federal statutes.
